    I eat every day 1 avocado as part of my low carb diet. I knew that it had lots of vitamins and minerals, that it was anti oxidant and anti inflammatory. But seeing just how effective it is on the inflammation markers in this video is incredible. They're always going to be a part of my diet.

    I love avocado , the trick is selecting the correct one's so that the skin just slips off with little work and the inside is still firm , bright dark green and this is when they taste the best too. You just want to press on 2 sides gently with your finger and your thumb , if it feels like it could indent with little pressure it's perfect . Easy to indent it's past it's best . Rock hard can be ripened at home . Fast ripe room temp , slow ripe in the fridge

    • @Kathy-kr1sv
      @Kathy-kr1sv 42 минуты назад

      Buy green and let ripen at home Once ripe refrigerate.... squeezing. It bruises the fruit
      Not nice for the person who buys that squeezed one

    • @tabularasa7775
      @tabularasa7775 34 минуты назад

      @Kathy-kr1sv Ahh you see the fact you think i mean't anything close to squeezing or damaging the avocado tells me you don't understand or know how to select the perfect avocado. I'd be damaging my own avocado if that was the case . Most of the time i don't wanna wait for an avocado to ripen , I want it now or later . Not that it matters but i'm a trained chef of 25 years so selecting the best produce is my bread and butter and the amount of times i've seen battered or squashed avocado on my plate whilst eating out is ridiculous . This is because they've had to force or peel the skin off and the flesh just isn't optimal to eat in that case .

    Benefits of avocado:
    + Improved blood pressure and reduced inflammation: HS CRP levels dropped from 0.83 to 0.22, indicating reduced inflammation.
    + Enhanced cardiovascular health: LDL (bad cholesterol) decreased from 154 to 117.
    + Good for blood sugar health: Minimal change in blood sugar markers (glucose, A1C, insulin).
    + Improved blood fat markers: Reduced number of small LDL particles and increased LDL particle size.
    + Rich in nutrients: Provides vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
    + Reduced sugar intake: Avocados have very little sugar, only 15g compared to fruits like apples.
    + Protects against insulin resistance: Low carbohydrate content with minimal impact on blood sugar levels.

    • @bert_buikema
      @bert_buikema 7 часов назад

      Your second + is irrelevant and false. LDL numbers have no bearing whatsoever on CV health. This has been proven over and over again the past decades.

    • @BeefNEggs057
      @BeefNEggs057 5 часов назад

      Reduced LDL is a marker of poor health. LDL goes down when people are ill. Probably all the oxylates damaging your body. Keep believing those cholesterol myths though.

    • @kwagnert
      @kwagnert 2 часа назад +1

      Why do people keep calling LDL "bad cholesterol"? First of all, its NOT cholesterol! It's a lipoprotein (a carrier) and It's NOT bad! You need to look at the big picture, ratio of triglicerides and HDL. Then it can be either a "good" or "bad" lipoprotein. And again, LDL is NOT cholesterol!

Every day I eat 3-4 big Avocados with chopped fresh ginger and turmeric root, vinegar, salt, fresh black pepper, 2 -3 pieces of garlic and 1-2 Cayenne pepper mixed as Guacamole. I canceled bread and all carbs 3 weeks ago. I eat this Avocado mix at 12 with 2 eggs, a good amount of fresh celery and a little bit of cheese melted over the eggs. It tastes very good. In the evening at 6 pm I eat the rest of my avocado mix with a bit of chicken or a small can of sardines in oil or some sausages. I changed all the sugar drinks for green tea with some cloves. I started exercises and I loose 1 pound per day with this lifestyle. I have not tested my blood but I am sure this will revert my insulin resistance.

    I think the saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" goes back hundreds of years when fruits in winter time were rare and precious and added some vitamins as well as sweetness to poor food. I do myself carry on a very old variety of apple that keeps fresh over the winter until May - for future generations (if things decline).
    Avocados haven't been around in Europe that long. It's difficult to get organical grown ones. By the way, is it still so that the cultivation of avocados needs a lot of water and local population suffers need if water?

    I go in cycles and I've been on an avocado kick again for the past few weeks. I eat one large one or two to three small ones (depending on how small) per day. I actually really enjoy the small avocados because it's easier to gauge the ripeness and eat fruit that is at its peak. Sometimes I eat them cut or sliced in a bowl with a touch of salt, a few big grinds of pepper and a splash of a vinaigrette or Italian dressing. Sometimes I eat them in a sort of antipasto "salad" made up of diced cucumber, diced onion, halved Manzanilla olives (sliced black olives are another delicious choice, too), quartered slices of pepperoni (I buy a spicy one that has thicker slices, but regular sliced pepperoni is how I started making this and I enjoyed it), tomatoes cut into bigger chunks (cherry tomatoes halved, Campari tomatoes quartered as reference) and one large or 2 small avocado diced. Add Caesar or Italian or vinaigrette to your taste and stir gently to combine. So good.
    On days I eat the Avocado Antipasto Salad, I have it as lunch or dinner. When I eat avocados on their own, I usually have them as a "snack" in the evening (I have to eat something in the evening) or with breakfast types of foods - eggs and bacon, sausage "sandwich", etc - for my first meal.

    We're fortunate to be living in South Africa and we're blessed to have these gems relatively inexpensive. Just bought 6 for the week. 1 per day and sometimes 2 a day ❤❤love them in salads or as is. I've just found out they're being produced in the western cape.

    I eat one whole avocado a day as well as one medium granny smith apple (both organic of course). I am in ketosis every day (measured with keto mojo from blood sample) and I also consume kidney, pinto, black, and navy, beans and pigeon peas most days (not every day).
    I consume 50-70g of carbs every day and still hit a keto level of 2 daily. My glucose peaks at 110 after eating and drops below 90 shortly after. It bottoms out at ~75. My a1c is 5.1 and my fasting insulin is 2.9.
    I am 60 yrs old, 6'1" 130lbs 5% body fat.
    The magic that makes this possible?
    18/6 IF and regular exercise.

    Thanks! I'll go shopping for avocados, and I think it a good idea to look up avocado oils to find the best brand for cooking. I've heard that it has a higher flash point than the olive oil I currently use for some cooking (other than butter, depending on the food). Then use EVO after cool-down and in sauces and salads. Thank you, again! 🙂👍

      Refined avocado oil also has a higher smoke point than most plant-based cooking oils (about 520° Fahrenheit), which makes it one of the most efficient pantry items. Use it for sautéing, roasting, searing, grilling, and drizzling.

    Avacados are known as Green Gold for many reasons so great nutritional value only ads to that notion. Yes, they are expensive.

    I just started eating 2 eggs and 2 avocados every day for lunch. Then for dinner some red meat protein. I was on OMAD (one meal a day) for about a month, but I lost too much weight, so now I need to do two meals a day, but I still keep it simple.
